Michael Mannell

After obtaining his degree Michael worked for a number of years in the commercial sector. He gained an interest in law and was admitted as a Solicitor in 1988. He trained and practised in Central London before joining Sookias & Sookias. Michael became a partner at Sookias & Sookias in 1997.

Michael runs the private client department. He advises on all aspects of personal tax, including income tax, inheritance tax, capital gains tax and stamp duty. In particular he specialises in tax advice for high net worth clients and non-UK domiciled individuals. He has helped clients establish their domicile and residence status and regularise their tax affairs with HM Revenue & Customs, including preparing detailed reports and agreements with the Special Compliance Office. Michael takes a proactive approach in tax planning, advising and assisting clients on the appropriate steps to minimise their potential tax liabilities. He has many years experience advising on the establishment and administration of offshore companies and trusts, including for property ownership and wealth protection.

His work also covers probate and wills, for British and international clients. He has acted on UK, foreign and offshore estates, obtaining grants, administering estates, attending to inheritance taxes and agreements with the Capital Taxes Office. He has further acted for UK trustees on the administration and taxation of trusts. Michael is happy to prepare simple or complex wills, ensuring these meet with any tax planning needs of a client.

Within Sookias & Sookias, Michael will provide support on any tax or finance related issues for the property, immigration, commercial and dispute resolution departments, so the client can receive all-round advice.
